Frequently Asked Questions
How do I ingest from an SD card?
Insert your SD card into your device or a card reader. On Mac, ShutterFlow will auto-detect the removable volume. Tap the + button in the Sources section to add your SD card, add your destination, then tap Copy.
What's the difference between Copy and Move?
Copy duplicates files to the destination while keeping originals untouched. Move transfers files and deletes them from the source after a successful transfer. Use Copy to back up, use Move to free up space on your card.
How does On Device storage work?
On Device storage saves files to your iPhone or iPad's local storage — useful when you're in the field without access to an external drive. Files are stored in the app's Documents directory and can be moved to an external drive later.
How do I offload files from my device?
Connect an external drive, set "On Device" as your source and the external drive as your destination, then use Move to transfer and remove the files from your device. With Pro, Auto Offload handles this automatically when an external drive is connected.
Why should I keep the app in the foreground during a transfer?
For the best experience, keep ShutterFlow open and in the foreground while a transfer is running. When the app is backgrounded on iPhone or iPad, iOS may suspend it to free up system resources — this can pause or interrupt an active transfer. ShutterFlow requests a background task extension to finish up, but this is time-limited and not guaranteed. On Mac, background operation works reliably. If you're doing a large ingest on iPhone or iPad, leave the screen on and keep ShutterFlow in view.
What file types are supported?
- Images: JPEG, JPG, PNG, HEIC, HEIF, TIFF, BMP, GIF, WebP
- RAW: CR2, CR3, NEF, ARW, RW2, ORF, RAF, DNG, RAW, PEF, SRW, and more
- Videos: MOV, MP4, M4V, AVI, MKV, MTS, M2TS
How do Flows work? Pro
Flows are saved presets of your source and destination configuration. Set up your typical ingestion workflow once, save it as a Flow, and start that exact setup with a single tap next time.
What is checksum verification? Pro
After each file is copied, ShutterFlow computes an MD5 hash of both the source and destination file and compares them. Matching hashes means the transfer was bit-perfect. If they don't match, the file is flagged — guaranteeing your backups are exact copies.
How do I cancel my subscription?
Subscriptions are managed through your Apple ID. Go to Settings → [Your Name] → Subscriptions on iPhone or iPad, or App Store → [Your Name] → View Information → Subscriptions on Mac. Find ShutterFlow Pro and tap Cancel Subscription.
How do I restore my purchase on a new device?
Open ShutterFlow on your new device and go to Settings. Tap "Restore Purchases". As long as you're signed in with the same Apple ID, your Pro subscription will be restored at no charge.
